Ready to Consolidate Your Credit Card Debt Print E-mail
Sunday, 09 September 2007
Credit cards are the worst way to get into debt.  Everyone has fallen into the trap of a credit card at least once in his or her life and it is nothing to be ashamed of.  They are so tempting to use, especially when you get frequent flyer miles or cruise miles and you really want that free plane ticket or cruise right?  But then one month you don't have the best paycheck in the world or you lost some hours at work and you can only afford to pay the minimum balance.  Before you know it, you are making the credit card companies happy, but you are committing financial suicide.

What do you do?  The answer is to consolidate through a credit consolidation loan.

There are several ways that a credit consolidation loan can help you and get you out of trouble.  The first is that you can often get better rates.  Anytime you see that a credit consolidation loan can save your money, you should use that opportunity.  At the same time, you are able to put all your eggs in one basket and pay them off with one monthly payment versus multiple payments to several different cards and debts.

When you see that it is time to get a credit consolidation loan, find a professional that you can trust and is willing to help you.  There are several credit card companies and even your local bank will be willing to help you get out of debt.  The more people they can get out of debt, the more money they can make.  Be sure to educate yourself before dealing with these individuals because you want to be able to understand the entire process in its entirety.

Before signing your credit consolidation loan agreement, be sure to study your debt in depth.  This will allow you to decide which debts are priority to pay off and which ones are at the highest interest rates.  These are the debts that you will need to eliminate first because they are a complete drain on you financially.  All unsecured debts should be at the top of your list.  Once you have a personal grasp on your debt yourself, the professionals that you enlist will also be able to help you prioritize and find the best credit consolidation loan for you.

During this process, you will also want to eliminate any lines of credit that are not completely necessary.  Save one credit card for emergency purposes and not for random shopping sprees.  You have to stop frivolous spending and get serious about getting rid of your debt before the clouds will disappear.
